Did you find the exact same dress online for less or a Chinese replica?

I bought a dress and sold two online (and ordered the other one without trying it).  If you have good measurements, can afford the alterations, and are dealing with an honest seller, you should be fine.  You can always resell it yourself if it doesn’t live up to what you want when it comes.

My dresses were not replicas.  I would guess that it’s harder to resell a replica and get much $$ back out of it b/c people will just order their own replica to their own specs tough.

Like the pp said, it depends on what kind of dress you plan on getting..a used or sample gown, or a replica. I’ve been through both. My replica experience was horrible to say the least. I ordered off Ebay, and, long store short, I never received the dress and never got my money back. So, if you are going the replica route make SURE you do your research!!! A lot of bees on here have shared their experience. Jeff Liu and another one, I think dressilyme (?) are popular sites. From what I’ve seen on here, you get the best results with simple gowns. If the dress is intricate and has a lot of lace, you should probably lower your expectations of it being super similar. Also, pay with Paypal(!!!) and know that you only have 45 days to file a claim! I was too trusting understanding and didn’t realize the claim date. Well, I ended up being 2 days late of the claim period, and got screwed!

I ended up ordering a sample gown (I’m pretty sure it is brand spanking new and no one had even tried it on!) and am super happy with this decision! I did take a risk, because no one within 50 miles of me had the dress to try on, but I went and tried on the same designers dresses in similar styles (and it sounds like you know what you want so you should be good to go there!) My dress came from Canada so there was some shipping issues, and I had an issue with the seller not emailing me back for a few days, but I did get my dress and I’m super happy I did. The only thing I am not happy about is that my dress did not come with a certificate of authenticity. I asked for it, and they said they would get one from the company and ship it to me. She then emailed me to tell me she was sending it out and I should receive it in a week. Well, it never came. And this was months ago. And they haven’t returned an email since. In the end I am just happy I have the dress…but just be VERY careful and cautious, and like I said, do your research!!!

Good Luck!

Do you have a specific dress in mind or are you just looking in general online to cut costs?

Ebay is great if you find a reputable buyer with good feedback.

All the pre owned wedding dress sites ( oncewed, preownedweddingdresses, etc) have great deals but always make sure you use a third party to do the money and products exchange.

ESTY has some great places that can make custom made, but again check for feedback.

Lots of chinese replica sites, hit or miss on time and quality.

It just depends!

I just purchased a dress today from ebay, brand new and genuine for a fraction of the original cost.

Sottero and Midgley jsm 1103. It is brand new, with store tags still attached, unworn and un altered.

If you go for a genuine dress, ask the seller to send you pitures of tags, dress lining and close up of dress details just to make sure.

Unfortunately not all sellers are as honest as we would hope, I found this out the hard way with the first gown I purchased.

Check all measurements, and ask for any that are not posted. And of course don’t forget to use paypal to pay.

Good luck finding the right one!!

There are a ton of good reviews on here. If you skim through my profile you can get a good starting point for reviews from other brides including myself.

As for me I used two companies because my first round was horrible. I used Jeff Liu for that one.

My second choice was Dressilyme and I purchased two perfect dresses from them.

Just skim through my favorite topics. Maybe you will land on a company you can trust. Just reasearch carefully and consider the design.
