Darling Husband and I spent a pretty penny buying his suit, shirt, and accessories for the wedding.  It was a choice made by us though because Darling Husband needed a suit for his fit.  I didn’t require my brothers (who were in the wedding) to buy a suit as it was expensive.  They’re both young and don’t have that type of money to spend.  I just asked them to purchase nice dress shirts, suspenders, and black pants.  They were able to borrow most of their attire which was awesome.

I think most Groomsmen typically rent, but for grooms you will probably find it more split.

We asked the Groomsmen to buy the same grey suit. I think it just depends on your crowd. Our guys were all excited to buy rather than rent because they will use them again. Darling Husband bought his suit too but it was slightly different/more expensive.

Dh already owned a tux so we picked ones for the groomsmen to rent that was similar.  It looked fine.

They will look fine if they’re all wearing black.  One of my friends did this last year for his wedding & even though their suits weren’t all perfectly matching, it still looked fine! I think the ties & vests will pull it all together.  We are actually doing the same thing, supplying the groomsmen with ties & asking them to wear a black suit & white shirt.

Darling Husband wanted to buy one, so he did, a grey pinstriped suit.  The Groomsmen bought theirs (well actually we bought them for them), tan suits.  Everyone wanted a new suit anyway so it worked out great.

Fiance is buying his tux for the wedding, I don’t think rented suits and tuxes ever fit perfectly, so it’s worth it to buy. Im pretty sure most of the GMs will rent, although I know a few already own them.

We rented his tux for the wedding through Men’s Wearhouse. They have a deal that if you get so many tux rentals then the groom can rent his tux for free OR get a free suit. We chose the free suit. Honestly it was the better choice, our tux rental cost us $100, but we ended up walking away and owning a $300+ suit. Thats alright in my book. 🙂

Darling Husband custom made his suit. we picked the inside lining, the lining and back for the vest, the fabric. everything. he went OC for his suit and shoes. his suit was navy, with a very light pattern – and we had our guys in navy suits. all the guys bought their suits. we got them for $225 and the guys were okay with it. happier to spend $225 on a brand new suit that they can keep and wear many more times than spending the minimum of $180 it is here to RENT a tux. plus i hate how tuxedos look unless their custom made. and its really hard to find a place here in mn that rents suits.

We’re wondering this too!

For those that rented: how much did a suit rental cost?  Do they tailor so they fit the guys well?

For those that bought: How much did you spend?

We bought DH’s suit and we had our brother’s buy too.  We were lucky enough to get them for about $50 since they were on clearance at JCP.  We paid for all of the shirts and ties.
