Has anyone ever had to do this?
Im in a weird situation. I’d also like opinions. Hes out of the country, and to get him into the country, i have to go through the whole visa thing, and then he has 90 days to marry me. Im sure some of you know the drill. Hes using most of the money he has to get to the country, and then when we get married, he wont be able to buy me an e-ring just yet. (were getting married in a courthouse first)
Would you get married without the actual ring, and then when we have our real ceremony months down the road, have him get it then? Or would you go on and buy your own e-ring? I just would like to avoid the glance to the left hand when i mention im married and then the puzzled looks that will soon follow when they see no ring.
What would you do??

What about just a wedding band?

If you have one you want in mind, get it!

@Kimberley25: Ive never really been one for the wedding band AND e-ring. I just like one ring… I could have like a temporary band? like just a solid gold wedding band for when we get married at the courthouse.
@distracts: I DO have on in mind!!

I don’t think there is any rule to doing things. If you and him feel comfortable with you getting your own ring them absolutely, get it. But ihe either of you feel strongly about who get the ring just get a band until he can afford to get you the ring you want

I would just get the temporary band (since it’s all for questions from others anyway) and then get the real one at the actual ceremony that you have later on.

If you don’t want to wear both an e-ring and a wedding band, you should get the one you truly want!

@lilbluebird: I agree. Can you get a temporary band?
You can buy thin titanium ones on eBay for under $5.

@xSparr0w: We’re going through the K1 visa BS, too. It’s hell, isn’t it?
I say go for it and buy yourself a ring if that makes you happy. You can always upgrade/swap it out later if you want.
