I am in week 8 of c25k (running 28 minutes this week) and have realized the plan has been very helpful for motivating me. While I have no marathon aspirations, I think I am more likely to continue to do it if I am working toward something. If you are a c25k graduate, what did you do after completing it? Do you know of any plan to work toward an 8k or 10k? Thanks!

i completed the program but didn’t continue with it because of a problem with my ankle (hurt it a loooong time ago). i run about 20 minutes twice a week still, and use the elliptical the rest of the time.
anyway, there ARE 10k programs..i looked into them before my ankle really started acting up. i know the iphone has a few programs, if you have one..

congrats on almost completing the program!
i ran a 5k about a week after i completed the program and kept running until about september. things have just gotten so busy for me that i wasn’t able to get out and run. i wanted to sign up for another 5k on thanksgiving morning since i noticed that my motivation to run is higher when i have a goal but then i got the flu and now the race is this thursday so…no go for me.
i do have a lofty goal of eventually running a half marathon so i’ll probably try to start pushing for a 10k next year. or at least once the weather starts to even out. there is a bridge to 8k or something like that that i googled. i use a nike plus sportsband to keep my mileage and they have training programs associated with the program. i’ll probably use one of those when i start running again

I completed the c25k in october and wanted to run my first race on thanksgiving but just last week my doctor told me I should stop running because of problems with my knee. That really sucks because I enjoy running. I haven’t ran much the past month though anyway because it gets dark too early (before I get home from work) and it’s too cold outside. I really wanted to do the 5k on thanksgiving but my husband is too afraid to do it because of the cold and the snow. It’s supposed to be like 5 degrees on turkey day. So it looks like I might not run again for awhile.
I think there were 10k programs. It’s called bridge to 10k or something like that. it was our goal to run a 10k by our second anniversary (next october) but now with my knee I don’t know what I will be doing.

That’s cool! Reading that you guys completed the program make me hopeful. I hate running and fiancee has been trying to get me to run. We recently got introduced to the program by a friend of us, hopefully we’ll be able to graduate from the program.

@guitargirl: I’m on Week 6 of C25K and really enjoy the program. I’ve seen a Gateway to 8K and Bridge to 10K programs. A simple Google search should help you find it. Those were the only 2 I found before reaching a half-marathon program. Good luck and I’m right behind you 🙂
