Chocolate has caffiene in it Wink.  But that’s probably not good for the waistline!

I tried to lay off the dark beverages before the wedding & used whitening toothpaste – bad move though.. it made my gums recede.  I should have known that it would – it happened with White Strips years ago.

Has that ever happened to anyone else?  I don’t brush too hard, my bristles are never anything but straight – but I start using whiteneing toothpaste & my gums recede.. maddening.

@Violet Violet: Whew, I’m glad I’m not the only one.. Its so bad that I went to a new dentist & they tried to show me how to brush my teeth.. I was like, I don’t brush hard, I swear, but couldn’t think of why my gums were all of a sudden disappearing!

I sort of feel like suing the company so that I can pay for the skin graft I might need later!

LOL! Sure is, i kinda sip on it for a few hours for like all day energy but if i need to clean the house or something I drink it all at once. Lucky for me FH works for them and we normally have a house full 🙂

I love coffee…mmmm…but I also drink tea!  Plus, if you want to prevent further darkening of your teeth, there are lots of varieties of white teas now.  Some have higher caffeine contents than others (since you said green tea doesn’t do it for you).  I also try weening myself off caffeine a bit by tricking myself into drinking decaf tea instead sometimes (haha!).  I am not a big fan of the energy drinks, so I try to avoid them.

I drink coffee – but limit myself to 1 big mug a day. I brush right after I drink it and that helps it keep it white. Also, if you drink out of a straw, it helps!  I just went to the dentist’s office a few months ago and they were like, “Wow, your teeth are so white – I bet you don’t drink any coffee!” 😛

Crest Whitestrips also works wonders, but it made my teeth a bit sensitive…

Straws help for me. In the summer, when I drink iced coffee, my teeth are noticeably whiter.

Straws defnitely help. Maybe start by reducing the amount you consume each time. For example, if you have a 12 ounce cup three times a day, reduce it to 8 ounce cups or only having coffee twice a day. I used to drink coffee all day long and Diet Coke. Now I am down to one cup of coffee in the morning and maybe one or two Diet Cokes during the day. It also helped me to switch to Hansen’s Diet Cola (caffeine free) and caffeine free Diet Coke.
