Giving up soda will absolutely help you keep weight off! I gave it up years ago too. I replaced it with herbal tea….takes me longer to drink it since its hot.

When I gave up sodas 2 years ago I lost 15 lbs! Since then i have put some of that weight back on with bad eating habits. It is so much more difficult to give up bad eating habits, but with Mr.Rain trying to do the same, we are sloooooowly getting healthier.

Good luck, Bamboo!  I love my caffeine, I drink lots of coffee EVERY DAY and I love it.

I tried to stop drinking it last year and it was so hard for me, I only lasted about 2 weeks and then was pouring the divine sludge down my throat once again!  But here are some tips I’ve heard from folks who have successfully kicked the habit:

  • Taper your intake down: reduce the amount of caffeine bit by bit so you don’t shock your system too much!
  • Replace the caffeine with a different treat that you enjoy that can also feel like a reward or a ritual.
  • Give yourself a bit of time to feel grumpy as your getting used to the change of not having caffeine.

Good luck!  Giving up pop is something you will probably really benefit from- less sugar, carbs, calories will benefit your teeth, skin, and hips!

I quit reg. coffee cold turkey, man was I a pain to be around, felt sick, headaches, it was horrible, I felt it was a constant pms.

Now that it’s out of my system, I am a lot calmer, I don’t get worked up as easy, and I’ve lost my constant need to do something. I feel better but I still really hate decaf.

The bonus is, when I do need a little lift, I can do half reg, half decaf and it actually works to wake me up a little, instead of my constant overdosing of lik 4-6 cups a day!

Good luck, it’s much better for your body. I think you’ll find you actually prefer water.

Hey give us an update, it’s been a week!
