I’m on the hunt for the perfect cake & cake topper!
My taste and my fiance’s tastes are very different, which has caused a problem with this – and other details for the wedding.
Our colors are dark purple (my side – my favorite color) and dark green (his side – his favorite color).
For the cake:
I tend to love white cakes with lace accents and purple details.
LOVE the bottom layer of this:
I’m giving him absolute veto power on my cake, but not control, if that makes sense. XD
For the topper:
I really want something elegant. He likes funny/comical toppers. I’m not necessarily opposed to something cute/funny if it fits us…
I tend to like the idea of toppers that are romantic, but I can’t find any people that look like us, which blows the elegant/romantic people off the list. I’m a pale redhead and he’s darker skined (half hispanic) with dark brown hair.
I’d like to stay under $100 for the topper. The cheaper, the happier I’d be. xD
We are meeting with the cake people a week from today to discuss options. A cake is included in our wedding package, but I’m not sure WHAT cake, exactly.

Why dont you do an elegant cake… with the lace, and have one layer be your ribbon and abother be his. the topper…. I ordered mine, and painted the hair with “model car” paint. lol.

we are in the same boat with the toppers being romantic and not looking like us!Im mixed and hes itailan…just before we got formally engaged, he picked out this romantic looking oil diffuser for our bedroom- we decided to NOT use is for oil and as our cake topper! Also he lovesss the funny…but i plan to get him a grooms cake so his funny will be there..what you can also do is put the “nice” topper on top and have the “funny” one on the table or bottom of the cake area…was at a wedding where they had only flowers on top an bride draggin the groom topper on the table next to the cake. Here is a pic of the diffuser we bought, on top of a sample cake ( and we can AFTER the wedding still use it as a diffuser!) it wasnt even $50 bucks so we thought it was a win-win!

There are several sites where you can choose a variety of ethnic origin bride and groom cake toppers.

Thanks for the quick replies! I really like that diffuser, Shalynn! Do you remember where you got it? I doubt my fiance will like it, but it doesn’t hurt to try!
Julie- Thanks for the link. Unfortuatnely, none of the “custom” brides and grooms really give off that elegant vibe that I’m looking for. =(
This is the only one I found and liked, but he doesn’t like it:
I’d love to find something that would give the “opposites in love” sort of vibe. We are opposites in almost every sense of the word.

I personally don’t want a topper but my Maid/Matron of Honor ordered one for me, personalized. I found this out after she found out I didn’t want one. Don’t you think that is something she should have asked me about first……

i know this is a tiny bit over budget, but I paid $130 for my cake topper and I love it, it’s personalized! Here’s the shop ot’s from: http://www.etsy.com/shop/tinyblossoms?ref=pr_shop_more
The etsy shop mudcards also does cue toppers for under $100. Other cute inexpensive options are a silhouette topper or a monogram one. But seriously, there are SO MANY cake topper son Etsy there must be one you both like!
And I LOVE this purple and green cake:
