I am a big baker, so I’ve recently started to consider baking for my wedding. Given our twenty person guest list this is very do-able for me. I figure two or three cakes will be enough to feed this amount of people.
Since birthday season for my family is coming up, I figured I could practice some cake recipes.

Um, is it bad that I voted for all of them? I really just love sweets and don’t care what kind of cake as long as their is cake!
My favorite is coconut, but a LOT of people don’t like it. Also, if you’re not doing a stacked one, I really like rich chocolate cakes with bitter chocolate on top. I have no idea what to call it, but….like an espresso cake?

@Tunacupcakes: Voting for all of them is okay if they all sound good. Honestly, they all sound good to me too, which is why I am asking for help.

I think it is so cool that you will be making your own cakes! I voted for pretty much everything…except for the cakes with cream cheese frosting. Otherwise I would have voted for the strawberry cake. I hate cream cheese frosting. But I think I’m very much in the minority there. 🙂

I’m not a huge chocolate fan (weird, I know), and I also don’t care for the texture of coconut, but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE carrot cake AND strawberry! Win win win win.

I love fruit paired with chocolate. So I would do something like chocolate cake with strawberry or raspberry whipped cream or butter cream.

@BeanPod: Good point. It might be good to have one cake with cream cheese frosting and one without just in case.
@KristenGotMarried: I have a go to carrot cake recipe. Most of these other ones I haven’t tried before.
@JoJo Bananas: Thanks for the idea.

Coconut is my #1 least favorite dessert ingredient, (banana is a close second), and carrot cake is my 3rd least favorite. I do, however, love anything strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate!

I voted for the first 3. I’m with crayfish on all the dislikes as well. I do know a lot of people that don’t like chocolate either (I know, what is wrong with them). I think if you have a variety, there will be something for everyone.

@milesbella: It’s interesing to me to see what strong dislikes people have for flavours since I like almost any type of cake in existence.
