So we are having an afternoon reception at our church fellowship hall with cupcakes, a cocoa and cider bar. But we are trying to think of what might be good to have in addition to that. I know it kind of screams cheesy reception but would you as a guest appreciate having like a fruit/ veggie tray or like cheese and crackers? Or might you have some other suggestions of CHEAP options for some little snack type stuff? And we are doing it all ourself so easy too.

A fruit or vegetable tray is always a nice option and much appreciated by those trying to avoid desserts.

I like the idea of cheese, cracker tray or maybe breads with spreads. Cucumber sandwiches are also always yummy!

Something that I really wanted to do (but Fiance shot down 🙁 ), was a salsa bar. There are so many yummy salsa options, you’d never run out of options, and it would be relatively cheap and easy.

Cocoa, cider and cupcakes sound so cozy and cheery! I love that idea for your winter wedding.
I would say that since you have your sweets taken care of already, you could provide some salty/savory or tart things to vary the flavor.
Chunks of sharp cheddar cheese, slices of French bread baguette, and a bunch of nice wheat crackers would be good, and not too difficult to prep. Red and green grapes with the cheese would look nice too.
Hollow out the center of a pumpernickel loaf, fill it with spinach dip, and have the pieces of bread available to dip!
If you have a crockpot available, you could do cocktail meatballs — either Swedish meatballs or ones in red sauce. (With slices of French bread, you almost have mini meatball hoagies!)
Spanakopita is one of my favorite appetizers. The nice thing about these is that you can make them months ahead of time and freeze them! And since you’re on site at the church, hopefully you can just pop them in the oven and serve them piping hot.
Finally, if you decide that you want to get really crazy, I’ve seen a lot of buzz around the Web about these lasagna “cupcakes” and macaroni and cheese “cupcakes.”
Hope that some of these will work out for you! Your wedding is going to be gorgeous and festive. 🙂

I agree to have some type of bread for sure. I am a big fan of olives and chees cubes together but most people may not like olives. Also a bread bowl with a dip in the middle might be really good to. …Ok i am getting hungry…lol
