We’re doing cupcakes! But instead of a tiered display, I’m making cake stands out of found items from thrift stores to display the cupcakes on. I’ve also ordered a small, two tiered wedding cake for us. So we can cut the bottom for photos and still save the top tier πŸ™‚

Yep! I had cupcakes and a mini cake. We also had a cake buffet. Can you tell I love cake? LOL! Our cake was supposed to go on top of our stand, but it ended up beside it, whatever. I just wanted to eat it πŸ˜‰

We did that for our wedding, though we didn’t cut the cake or anything. (We did save it for our 1 yr anniversary though.)

@Running Elley: we got a lady off of craigslist to make them , she was just starting out. We paid 100.00 for the cake and 50 cupcakes. I would think if its just a few cupcakes it would be fine, but i would be worried about getting overwhlemed if he is planning on doing detailing (we had 25 sugar medallions and 25 sugar magnolias, i feel that would be over whelming!)

We did cake and cup cakes. We did our two tier cake and then surrounded it by cup cakes. It actually turned out beautiful and guests loved that they had the option. Something I would totally do again if I re-did my wedding!

This is what we’re going to do.  We’re only going to get a small one tiered cake to cut a little bit and then freeze the rest though for budget reasons.  And then enough cupcakes in different flavors for everyone.  We’re going to display it like others have shown with the cake on top and the cupcakes on the tiers below it.

I’m not making ours at all….I’m getting them from Sam’s Club. We always get our birthday cakes there and they’re so sweet and moist! Plus it’s 12 dollars for an order of 30!! I think I’m getting about 3 orders (they come in vanilla and chocolate with plain vanilla icing) so for 36 dollars I’ll have 90 cupcakes πŸ˜‰

Here’s a pic of what they look like. I ordered these for my fiance’s birthday. They have footballs on them but the wedding ones won’t have those or sprinkles.
