Kingy wants his groom’s cake at the rehearsal, but if you’d rather do a different dessert, then go for it! 🙂

No, I don’t think cake is traditionally ordered for the rehearsal dinner, at least not at any that I’ve been to (mostly in New england and New York). But of course, if you want cake, do it! 🙂

Nahhhhhhh. I mean if you want one it won’t look weird, but if you don’t, nobody’s going to be looking around going, “Where’s the rehearsal cake??”

Definitely not necessary or expected. We had one at ours, but it also happened to be my birthday that day so it was more like a bday cake rather than a rehearsal cake.

I’ve never seen that – we all had some kind of dessert at the last wedding I stood in, but most of us were too worn out/nervous/sick of all things wedding to be enjoying a good slice of cake.

But there’s nothing that says you can’t have your cake!!!

we had cake for dessert. I got really cute cake toppers and made it a “grooms” cake. Sheet cake to feed 120 people with chocolate dipped strawberries.

delish!

We had a bride’s cake at the rehersal dinner.  I am allergic to dairy so we decided on having a “normal” cake at the wedding and then a vegan cake at the rehersal dinner for me 🙂  Then I had left overs for the reception that were hidden in the back until it was time for me to eat

We’re going to do a groom’s cake and cupcakes for our rehearsal dinner. I don’t know if this is the norm, but we’re doing it this way because I don’t want the groom’s cake at the actual wedding but Fiance really wants carrot or spice cake as the flavor and I personally hate both of those as do a lot of the people who will be at the rehearsal dinner AND our cake baker makes AMAZING cupcakes, so I had to figure out a way to include them somewhere in our wedding. lol

We are doing a miniature dessert tray. I’m pretty excited, because I love all things miniature and assorted.

@Mrs. Meowerson: is it bad that I think I’m looking forward to the rehearsal more than the reception?  I think these desserts have something to do with it.
