I just made strawberry cake balls covered in vanilla bark. OMG, to die. I tried them out on my friends at work and everyone loved them. These are totally going on the dessert table. Next I am trying german chocolate mixed with caramel coconut and covered in dark chocolate. There is not a cake that couldn’t be great as a CAKE BALL!

Can you post the recipe for your strawberry version? That’s my husband’s favorite kind of cake, and i’d love to make them for his birthday!

Just take your favorite cake and make it as usual. Let it cool completely. Grind it all up to crumbs and mix with a few tablespoons of your favorite frosting just enough to make it roll into a ball. Roll into bite size balls and freeze. Melt whatever chocolate and then dip the balls into the chocolate and let stand in the fridge.
It is so flippin easy I made the cakes at home and made the ball at work.

Have you tried turning then into cake pops?? I did some a few months ago in different flavors. I put them in little clear bags and tied them with ribbon. Made a nice birthday gift for my boss.

I love these things! I made some Halloween themed ones for a party, and everyone loved them. Last year I made little Christmas trees – so cute! Bakerella.com is an awesome resource for cake pop ideas! I want to try strawberry next. 🙂

I agree! They are delish! I made carrot cake balls last year for my pops around Christmas time and he LOVED them.

I made these as favors when my siblings and I threw my parents a surprise 25th anniversary party. They were a HUGE hit. The dipping of the colored chocolates’ got a little complicated and a little messy, but I think they were totally adorable and worth it!

Cake balls are definitely amazing, and I bet if you added sticks and made cake pops, there are all kinds of cute ways to display them at a wedding…or a party…or a work event…or wherever! And then it’s less gross if you have multiple people grabbing for them, too. We used a caterer at my old job that would do a spread of cake pops, fruit kebobs and speared chocolate covered strawberries; some were dipped in sprinkles or nuts and it was all AMAZING!

They are so yummy, and are a total hit at work today. I ran out so fast I was lucky I made a few extra cakes and brought extra chocolate.

That sounds so good! It reminds me of Oreo balls. Same idea, but rather than cake/frosting you use Oreos/cream cheese. Yum!
