The two ladies I’ve been quoted by charge $4 – $5 per serving.  That would mean that a 100 person cake would be $400 – $500.  Hope this helps.

My cake is $3 per person, but that’s Ohio (after we signed our contract it was raised to $3.75/ person).  I also talked to other bakers who had price quotes in the $4-6 range.  The region your wedding will be held in will have a huge impact on your price.

Some people get a cake that won’t serve anyone and use sheet cakes in the same flavor to make up the difference.  Supposedly, no one can tell and it is much cheaper.

If you are on a budget some grocery stores actually do wedding cakes.  I’ve also heard of people getting them from Sam’s, BJs, Costco and Walmart, but have no experience with this.

I’m getting married in VT and am getting a cake from Irene Matson Cakes (Ludlow, VT). She’s won a bunch of awards so it’s expensive!! I’m having approxminately 100 people at my wedding (but she said the cake will end up serving 108). For a white chocolate cake, white chocolate buttercream exterior, and one layer per tier of berry filling, it’s $842. I think just plain vanilla cake and regular buttercream was around $750.

We’re in Richmond and we got a square three layer cake for 120 people for around $400 with delivery and set up charges were all said and done.

I heard somwhere that you should get cake for 20 less people than are invited to the wedding. under the idea that people will have left, or won’t want cake.  I’m planning on just covering the whole invite list just in case though.
