The good, the bad, the ugly! Post photos of your cake or your dessert table!
I HATE frosting and I’m not a huge cake person so I loved the idea of a “naked cake”- nice and simple. Ours was vanilla with raspberry filling and it was SERIOUSLY the best cake I’ve ever tasted.. it was soooo “moist” (I hate that word!) it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
we found an amazing baker about an hour drive from us — she did it out of her house and we were SO SO impressed when we tried her samples, and she totally met my vision AND she was super reasonably priced! We paid 400$ for all these little chocolate jewels, donuts, sugar cookies, meringues, and our huge cake. She did amazing!
My only regret is that all our desserts were so good apparently that they were gone by the time DH and I got to the dessert table lol, so the only thing we got to try was the cake!

Our cake was brushed gold and two flavors..almond with vanilla filling and chocolate with hazlenut filling…
And even more dessert..

Our cake was AMAZING! Our bakery was in San Antonio, Texas and the lady there was a joy to deal with. The cake was Citrus cake with strawberry filling, whipped white frosting. I wanted the succulents that were in my bouquet and in the table arrangements on the cake, but HATE the idea of putting real flowers/succulents in the frosting (As many bakeries told me was the ONLY way to get the look I was going for) Cynthia made them out of sugar paste and they were beautiful!
DH is a Fishing Charter captain and saw a similar cake to this and was all over this being his grooms cake! It was adorable and fit him so well, and so many of the guests took pictures with it, it may as well have been in a photobooth lmao. Cynthia made the fish out of rice krispies and covered then in fondant. We still have them in our freezer as a little anniversary snack. lol

My mum made our wedding cake. It was a Victoria sponge with raspberry at the bottom, then orange and milk choc chip, then lemon and white choc chip and then at the top caramel with caramel filling and bits of caramac yum!!

My cousin made my cake. It was red velvet with cream cheese frosting, fresh flowers, and of course our penguin cake topper!

We had a laidback backyard wedding. I did all of the cakes and desserts myself, I think they turned out pretty well! The main cake I bought two cakes from Whole Foods and stacked and added the fruit- so simple and a fraction of the cost of them putting it together.

we had a small wedding cake for cutting, kings cake, dessert shooters, boozy ice cream, and beignets with shots of coffee. we wanted to have a little bit of everything 🙂

Whoa souzie, besides the wedding cake, how many smaller side cakes did you have? Where they all eaten at the end og the night?
Yay, I got to see more of your wedding photos 🙂

In our US reception (casual), I will probably just serve the wedding cake as the only dessert and nothing else as that is standard where I live. The flavors will likely be vanilla with macadamia nuts and chocolate with mocha/coffee cream. For the European reception (formal), I don’t know who our cake baker will be yet. But usually there, they expect some kind of pudding in a glass for dessert and the wedding cake is cut very much later into the night..like almost midnight.

These cake pics make me excited 😀
For our courthouse wedding my brother’s girlfriend’s mom made our cake -it was so delicious – one part coconut and and the top was lemon.
For our church ceremony and reception in Europe I am hoping to get what I submitted to the baker for inspiration 🙂 It will be raspberry and lemon <3

omg, I almost thought your post was my post because of the whole courthouse ceremony and Europe-religious ceremony similarities (see my reply above)..but I could have sworn I did not post any cake photos LOL

To be honest, I couldn’t even tell you. It was one of our late night stations…we also had specialty coffees, fresh fruit, sliders and poutine. When we picked our menu, it wasn’t really discussed exactly what we would be getting..just an assortment of cakes and pastries. If I had to make a guess, we had a total of all the 7 cakes pictured.
IIRC, the blueberry and lemon cheesecakes were gone by the end of the night and I know my mom took home one tray of the pastries and like 4 of the cakes, mostly uneaten. She hosted about 30 family members from out of country and we had friends come by the next day so none of it went to waste LOL.
