Per serving I guess? It was a flat fee depending on the size of the cake. So ours was 3 tiers could feed 130ish and we paid about $400. We had three different flavors and fillings in the bottom two layers.

Every baker or bakery that we contacted gave us prices per serving.  Ultimately we ended up paying $370 for a cake to feed 117 (not including top tier).  This includes delivery and set-up.

I had a friend do ours for $250 for both wedding cake and grooms cake. She works out of her house. But the average cake cost for that area (Texas) is $2.50-3 a slice

Ottawa Ontario Canada prices

  • 2 tier – $235 – $300

  • 3 tier – $355 – $445

  • 4 tier – $485 – $525

So according to these prices, I am baking my own cake!

Haha… the cake. Things are pretty expensive in the Bay Area, and we really wanted a fondant cake with a clean and modern look. Went to a few tastings… our lowest quote was $489. Ended up disappointed by everything but the most expensive. Our cake will be 3 tiers, serve about 75. She will also be making a fondant nest and two love bird cake toppers. We chose our baker not only because she could pull off the design we wanted, but her cakes also tasted super great.

Overall price is $650. Exhorbitant, but based on the other tastings (dry cakes, uninspired/cheesy ornate designs) I’m all for it. When else am I going to get a fondant masterpiece?

Just have a look at her portfolio:

Seriously, I don’t mean to sound like an ad… I am just really pumped for this cake.

TL;DR Weddings are expensive in San Francisco

I paid about $5.10 per serving for the cakes and delivery.  And another $100 for the groom’s cake.
