sarbear21:  I love it!!!

Ours is “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green but you don’t have to have any song at all if you don’t want to

My 1st daughter chose “Cut the Cake”. For the 2nd, the band just played “How Sweet it is, to be Loved by You.”

Between having it announced, from wherever they were in the room, to returning back to their seats, it will take more than a minute. Photographers and guests always want to take a number of shots.

They both did it right after the entree break, so it wouldn’t interfere with the dance flow. (It’s common in our area to have dancing breaks, between courses).

We used “I want to grow old with you” from the Wedding Singer. It’s a cute, fun song.

alexsmith217:  we used “Ice Cream and Cake” by the Buckwheat Boys. It’s kind of a stupid song but it’s our college’s signature song to play at basketball games so we thought it’d be cute to use especially since some of our guests were our college friends.

We played “Love you Madly” by Cake.

You can just have the dj pick something if you don’t have any ideas.

alexsmith217:  I don’t understand having a specific song either.  Cutting the cake takes like 30 seconds.  So only 30 seconds of a song is going to play?  Just seems silly.  If you don’t want a specific song then just say “play whatever.”  Because really who is going to be paying attention to what song is being played when you cut your cake?

alexsmith217:  I first saw this question and thought “really? is that a thing?” and then remember we did have a song! hahaha. I had our baker put a little Mario and Princess sitting on the bottom tier on our cake as a surprise for my husband (we’re big game nerds and it was our costume of first halloween of dating) so they played Mario Kart Love Song.

We used Sugar by Maroon 5.  I do remember hearing it playing and it made me smile even if no one else really noticed.

We joked about using Still Alive from Portal for ours, because we’re looking at doing cupcakes (…the cake is a lie…we’re dorks).

One of my bridesmaids had Sugar Sugar by the Archies playing during the cake cutting at her wedding. Cute 1960s pop song.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to go with “Just Eat It” by Weird Al.  But, my Fiance and I have that type of humor so it may not work for everyone
