Hi all, I’ve decided on the cake I want for my October wedding:
I’m going to make 3 and have them on these stands (so I don’t have to worry about stacking cakes!). My only problem is the cigarillos around the cake. I’ve looked online, and would need to spend about £60 for the cigarillos, which seems a lot to me for chocolate! I was wondering whether anyone could suggest any alternatives? Thanks!

you could pipe round tubes of frosting using a round circle tip. (i swear, it’s easier than you think, as long as you have the cake elevated and on a lazy susan, it’ll go fast.)
cover it in Chocolate Piroutte cookies
Or, I think to make chocolate logs like that you just melt some chocolate, pour into a sheet pan and let cool, then cut into strips that are the same height as your cake and roll quickly and lightly.

Thanks, those cookies look good. I might have to make another trial cake to see what will look good (more cake to eat!!)
Anyone else have any ideas? 🙂

Melt chocolate, pour in a shallow pan or directly onto a marble slab.
Cool slightly. While still soft use a pastry scraper to roll chocolate curls the height of the cake.. Let cool completely before you place them on the frosting.
