Do you get to pick fillings AND icings with a fondant cake? I just noticed on our bakers website that she has a list of fillings and add-ins!
We ordered this but she said we can change or add anything.
French Vanilla with Vanilla Buttercream
Strawberry (no actual strawberries in the cake) with cream cheese icing
Kahlua Fudge with Kahlua Fudge icing
She can make any flavor mousse, she has chocolate ganache, fresh fruit, yada yada, ANYTHING. Should we add fillings?

We did a Bavarian cream filling which was light and sweet and added a little extra something-something. 🙂 It definitely won’t overpower any of the other flavors.

Fondant goes over a buttercream or ganache, so yes, you get to choose! (I would recommend ganache. It binds to the fondant and tastes great and you don’t notice the texture of the fondant as much.
I would choose a filling for sure! Have fun! Do you get to arrange a tasting or have you already done one?

@Crabbabs: So I am going to have cake, a filling, icing, and then fondant over it all?

The fondant should be a very thin layer – usually less than an 1/8th of an inch. Sometimes around a 1/4″ if rolled thicker.
