So I am making my own wedding cake and am at a loss for which flavors to include. I’m going to be doing cupcakes so I want to have around 4 flavors. Ones I have been thinking of:
Chocolate with peanut butter buttercream
Chocolate withe fudge filling and Irish cream buttercream
Banana with caramel
Poppyseed with raspberry filling (no thoughts on the frosting yet)
But I’m not sure yet. Are there any flavors you’d like to see if you were going to a wedding.

What I’m having at my wedding because it was amazeballs:Midnight cake with white chocolate mousse filling. *drool*
Personally I wwouldn’t be a big fan of poppyseed because I’d be . Worried about getting it in my teeth. And if you’re going to have multiple flavors, I think it’s good to have vanilla. I also think lemon can be really good. And strawberry filling is always good.

Red velvet with cream cheese frosting! Maybe I’m biased, because it’s one of my cupcake flavors, but I love it! 😀

Depends on when your wedding is. Lemon is refreshing for summer, but I love spice cake or red velvet with cream cheese in the fall. You mentioned caramel- what about a dulce de leche? Almond?

Agree with PP about poppyseeds in the teeth! But, lemon with raspberry filling… mmm.
And of course vanilla/yellow/white is really popular, even if it’s not the most exciting.
And my personal favorite: Strawberry with cream cheese frosting!

Milibee13: oreo ones are delish! probably with a vanilla or oreo butter cream frosting. the chocolate with the peanit butter I would be afraid of guests that have nut allergies but it sounds yummy.

So for a “plain” normal cupcake flavor which would you prefer: vanilla or red velvet? Because I agree I need a “normal” flavor. I love lemon cake but my wedding is the beginning of fall end of summer timeframe.

- Wedding: November 2014 - 11/15/14-Vineyard
We are having chocolate with chocolate mousse with mini chocolate chips, white with whipped cream and fresh strawberry, pineapple cake with light buttercream and crushed pineapple, cherry chip cake and cherry buttercream and carrot cake and cream cheese.
I’m with everyone else on the poppyseed, not a great idea for a wedding.

We had chocolate with hazelnut and vanilla with oreo for our cake and strawberry cake pops. If I were going to do 4 flavors I’d probably go with a chocolate, vanilla, fruit (strawberry, lemon, or whatever) and a spiced cake (i.e. carrot, cinnamon, etc).

Dang it…poppyseed is my favorite flavor of cake and the one I wanted but that’s ok. I can’t really only make one of them….

Just thought of another flavor that I love: Chambord! With dark chocolate gananche mmm

- Wedding: March 2014 - Brazil Room
We had “pina colada” – coconut cake with pineapple curd filling, “thin mint” – chocolate cake with mint chocolate truffle filling, and a cake tiramisu tier. My favorite by far was the thin mint. There was none leftover!

Milibee13: If poppyseed is your favorite I think you should go for it! People can slip away to the restroom to check their teeth if they have that flavor! We are having yellow cake with green tea filling…not sure if everyone else will like it but it’s our wedding and we really wanted a unique flavor that is ‘us’. You’re at least covering people who might not like poppyseed by having other flavors as well. I’d do the poppyseed with raspberry filling and lemon frosting, chocolate with peanut butter frosting, red velvet OR the banana with caramel, and vanilla.
