    Even though the rose water, lavender, rosemary flavors are gormet and prob taste decent I would prob not eat them. im more of a chocolate, vanilla and red velvet person anyway so I’m not much help I guess… I think those funky flavors are a little much… In My Humble Opinion

    eta, I also HATE eating coconut and I know a lot of people that dont enjoy that weird consistency..

    tjacob2014:  I feel the same as you, I voted for the coconut/passion fruit! If you can have something out of the ordinary, why not!? Literally no one will remember a vanilla cake lol.

    tjacob2014:  I voted coconut and passionfruit too.  Its good you can have three choices though.  I’d say have it for the top layer then and hope for lots of spare slices ๐Ÿ™‚

    The coconut and passionfruit cake sounds amazing, and I would have classed that as a safe, classic flavour – I’m surprised so few people have voted for it so far.  I wouldn’t try any of the cakes with lavendar or basil, and I would tentatively try the cakes with rosewater filling but I’m not convinced I would like them.

    If I could alter your flavours slightly, my first choice would definitely be lemon drop cake with raspberry filling – not rosewater raspberry, just raspberry.  That sounds lovely.

    Cheekie0077, flavors like rosewater, basil, and lavender are risky for a wedding cake. They may be the new thing, but for most people its love or hate. Coconut is also a flavor that not everyone loves, but it’s safer. I am a pastry chef and one of my most popular flavors is coconut lime. I would do one “safe” flavor like vanilla or almond (but people have nut allergies) and then just pick what else you want. Honestly, looking at all the combinations you have here, almost evey one has a flavor that people may not like. For example, lemon cake with raspberry frosting is simply one of the best cakes I have ver had in my life. Add rosewater to the frosting, and I don’t want to touch it. The chocoalte has expresso frosting, and a lot of people don’t like coffee. 

    My honest suggestion is to maybe switch up at least one of the combinations or ask them to remove the rosewater from the raspberry frosting, and that will get you more crowd friendly but still creative flavors.

    If you want to coconut and passionfruit, go for it on a smaller tier, it’s your wedding ๐Ÿ™‚ Just make sure there is another flavor that other people will like too!

    As someone who HATES coffee, I’d steer clear of the espresso since it’s such a strong flavor (and can make or break a cake for somoene in my shoes) all of the others sound yummy, but I’m partial to passionfruit and the strawberry basil options! 

    I think my ideal would be vanilla cake with passion fruit filling. As a baker I can tell you coconut cake is REALLY hard to get exactly right since it can be almost as polarizing of a flavor as coffee.  But if it’s done right, it’s AMAZING!

    I agree with your FI and Cheekie.  I really dislike over the top cake flavoring and filling.  I must be in the minority but I love vanilla pound cake or chocolate cake with whipped icing.  Occasionally I like peanut butter or strawberry flavor but for the most part I like the plain old flavoring choices.

    I also really really hate coconut and always steer clear of it.

    Maybe you could have 2 “normal” flavors and 2 unique flavors?? I’m a fairly adventurous eater, but rosewater can be extremely overpowering and if people aren’t used to savory (rosemary, basil) in their sweets, they could get really turned off.

    I would like to try something different. My favs are the expresso filling chocolate cake and the lemon drop but I never turn down red velvet! I’m with the other bees do 2 regular flavors and 2 goumet flavors. We will be having snickerdoodle, chocolate oreo, red velvet, and vanilla. Clearly we are kids at heart by our flavors!
