I doubt guests will even know the wedding cake is more than one flavor and depending on when you are getting married it is highly unlikely guest will eat two slices (in the last 5 weddings I have been to I dont think I have had any cake). But if you think your guest will want to try multiple flavors then I would stick with two flavors for the wedding cake. Fiance and I usually split a slice of cake if I eat cake at all… so just keep that in mind!

If the cost isn’t prohibitive I would talk to the baker about the serving size.

A cheaper option is to do some cupckaes or mini cupcakes so they are still getting a cake like item but without a ton of cost.

@SarahM786:  No problem! We had wedding cake, grooms cake, and several dozen mini cupcakes. The only thing we had left were our top tier and about 2 dozen cupcakes. We actually made the cupcakes ourselves so it only cost about 50 total including the bakeware.

A lot of people recommend having a sheet cake with your flavors to supplement the wedding cake itself. Sheet cakes are a lot cheaper because they don’t require the decorating, but they don’t taste any different!

Make the grooms cake larger. CHOCOLATE.

These three sound amazing to me: Lemon cake with raspberry filling, white chocolate with strawberry filling, and chocolate ganache. I started a thread about cake flavors and several bees said they were doing multiple flavors, so I would say go for what makes you and your Fiance happy!

I’ve heard that you can count on not all guests eating cake, but personally I would err on the side of having a little extra cake rather than too little. Smile
