We’re having a brunch reception with breakfast-y foods, some light lunch-y foods, mimosas, bloody marys…
I’m really not a fan of having a traditional wedding cake for this type of reception… would love to hear some alternative ideas!!
The only thought I had was maybe something with angel food since it’s light… somehow do toppings, like strawberry, whipped cream, etc. But I have no idea how to pull that off.

the angel food sounds yummy! i know cupcakes are popular these days for weddings. if i had my choice in a wedding cake (i don’t because i get what the resort in Jamaica offers), i would have a cheesecake!

oooh cheesecake or strawberry shortcake are both great options

That sounds pretty good to me…fruity and light, kind of like a strawberry shortcake. You could put the different toppings out in attractive bowls near the cake–it would be like a take on those candy buffets that are so popular at weddings now!
This might be a little too un-cakelike, but crepes are delish and breakfasty too.

Would I have the bakery do like individual angel food cakes? Or try and figure out a way to stack a few tiers of it? There’s only going to be around 50 guests so we’re not needing a ton of cake.
