 you could make a cake stand out of wood. That is what i think we are doing

hmm for sparkly cake…. pop rocks? i think that one of the BEEs had it on her blog on the front page. it;s one of the newer ones.

@oracle: You can get edible glitter. Most baking supply stores carry it. As for your cake stand, check out shops like Goodwill for vintage stands, or for a vase and cool plate and glue them together! DIY is always a good option for getting the look you want.

Here’s a link to google images”sanding sugar”. You can sprinkle this on your cake and the whole thing will sparkle. It comes in many colors. Buy it at a store that sells cake decorating and baking supplies.

Add some fresh flowers and your cake will look beautiful.

You can make the cake stand by using clear epoxy to glue a clear glass or crystal plate to a crystal vase or wine glass. Here’s a link to a previous post.

We are doing cakes for our centerpieces so that all the tables have their own cake and can have a small piece, big piece, or none at all, Their choice. 

I got our cake stands from amazon.com and they were $10, glass, with lid. I love them. When I got them it was free shipping so we saved a lot of money when we got 10 of them lol.
