isabellep :   Craftsy has a lot of free tutorials, and there are a lot on YouTube as well! If you’d rather have a hands-on instructor, check and see if you have a Michael’s or Joann Fabric near you. They offer Wilton cake decorating classes, which is actually how I got started with decorating more πŸ™‚

isabellep :  Ah, okay! That sucks. I really enjoyed the one class I did over there. It was a good way to get some techniques down. Is there any sort of learning center near you that might offer one?

14112062_10210273111686888_706073417_nThis was my first attempt at baking and decorating a cake two years ago, and since then I have definitely evolved!

14081238_10210273109006821_124973632_n I made these for Christmas to take to work. Made my own gingerbread and they fit on a cup!

14081264_10210273107886793_1261639574_n This one was for a colleague’s birthday. It was kind of “I couldn’t be bothered to try something complicated but wanted it to look nice” kind

14088946_10210273110526859_965817663_n Again – one of my simpler ones, but I liked the way it looked πŸ™‚

Sorry I put so many photos on! I just love baking πŸ™‚ aaand to end the long series of pictures.. Here is something that required no baking but I made myself anyway πŸ™‚ I love the dog in the background, haha

My Birthday Cake. It’s a Smores cake with graham cracker cake layers, whipped chocolate gnache filling, and a homemade marshmallow fluff outside

The pink and blue cakes  were supposed to be smash cakes, and they were last minute, and I also ran out of the flour buttercream πŸ™‚ People ended up slicing them instead. I wish I spent more time on them. They were just boxed vanilla cakes

Pretty proud fo this one, it’s a 3 tierd half-dressed cake. Top and bottom layers are French Vanilla with strawberry preserves and the middle tier is a dark chocolate with raspberry preserves and dark chocolate gnache layers. All are crumb coated in Swiss Merengue Buttercream and decorated with fresh fruit.

Ooooh so many pretty cakes! I’ve always wanted to get into cake decorating, but I’ve never actually given it a whirl. I’m more of a pie baker, but I do make some pretty looking(and even better tasting) pies, so I will share those!

Peach with a lattice top and braided crust

Caramel apple crumble with a twisted lattice top and (my frist attempt at) a braided crust

Blackberry (first attempt at lettering in a pie, for a benefit auction)

Valentine’s Day peach pie

Deep dish pecan pie with a cream cheese crust (baked in a spring form)

novalee :  That pumpkin cake looks so cool! And my niece would LOVE the Peppa Pig cake! And what is the last thing you posted that you said didn’t actually require baking? It looks like it has caramel and chocolate? It looks so good, whatever it is.. all of your pictures have me drooling here at my desk at work! πŸ˜‰

futuremrss17 :  it’s a giant Toffiffee(don’t even know how many f’s the name has, haha). Not sure if you get them in the US, but they are a candy with a soft caramel outside, a hazelnut in the middle covered by a chocolate/hazelnut filling and topped with a chocolate button. We have them here in the UK πŸ™‚
