We are doing cupcakes because 1) they need to be gluten free and gluten free cake can get gross, 2) my family is obsessed with the DC cupcakes show and I love the Girlfriend cupcake from Georgetown cupcake and they think of it is a treat, 3) It is way cheaper.

I think a cake is more formal, so we’re doing cake.

We did a 2 tier cake. We had very few guests & I make cupcakes all the time anyway. So for the wedding, I wanted the traditional fancy cake.

We’re doing cupcakes simply because I LOVE cupcakes. Plus, some people love cake and others don’t so we figure some people can take a few. I also just love cupcake towers. However, we are having a small cake made for the top of the tower so we can cut the cake.

@Birdee106:  Thanks! Those cupcakes are black bottom cheesecake cupcakes with a similar cake. I got everything I wanted with my cake: sage color, white, and something to go with the cake topper. My mom sketched out the cake design portion for us.

We did cakes, but not a traditional wedding cake, we had a selection of 10 inch rounds so people could pick the flavor they wanted.

cupcakes are way cheaper, its costing us less than 200 bicks for 200 cupcakes and a 6″ top cake for cutting 🙂 and our bakery can do differnt flavors with fillings ect….

We’re doing cupcakes so guests have an variety of flavors to choose from.  It also ended up being less expensive than cake.

this is what I originally wanted, but the cost of a cake verse the cost of cupcakes is huge, and really who likes fondant anyways?

@misspeanut: Same thing I plan to do. I like the idea because I can still have my actual cake but then get to have a variety of different kinds of cupcakes.
