Hello!!
Has anyone supplied their baker with their own cake stand / cake plate for their cake? We have choosen to do so, however it is crazy trying to find a 20 – 24" cake plate. Any suggestions on where to look?? I was thinking about making one instead.. maybe a piece of wood, covered with fabric.. IDK anymore but we need to have it to the bakery by next week!!
Thanks!

We’re either renting one from our baker, or doing something similar to what Pengy had for her cake. http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/08/22/penguin-recap-dance-cut/
I think making one and covering in fabric would work well, too, though!

I would go to a wedding supply store and buy a Masonite Cake Board, you could even go on the web and go to Cake Art http://www.cakeart.com/store/e-StoreOperations_searchItem.asp?strSearch=wood+board&curPage=2 …you can buy them up to 24" for about $8.99, then all you need is some fabric and a hot glue gun and some thin ribbon for the edge, it will save you sooo much money!!! I am a pastry chef myself, and most brides opt for this type of cake stand.
