Apparently this is a Cuban tradition as well, as we did the same thing for my quinceanera when I turned 15! It was nice– we had a charm in there for each friend I invited (it was a smallish party) and everyone gathered around and grabbed a random string to pull before we cut the cake. I kept my charm in my jewelry box and haven’t actually used it for anything, so I can’t imagine that my friends did either, but it was a fun little thing for that night. I like the idea of giving people a bracelet/necklace to attach the charm to like the article suggested.

Nope, never and I’ve been to several weddings in GA, NC, and SC. It sounds interesting, but I can’t imagine anyone doing anything with the charm they pull out of a cake.

I don’t like to single out the single people at a wedding. Also why I don’t like the bouquet toss lol. I mean some people are fine with it, but it was always really uncomfortable to me.

I think if you gave it as an option and people could do it whenever they wanted (like not a big ‘ok everybody up, we’re doing this now’ kinda thing) it would be fine though.

I think it looks fun!  Not for single people but for the girls in a bridal party.  How adorable!

Yeah never heard of that tradition so maybe its not something done as much in the Southeast.

It sounds like a cute idea, I just wouldn’t get something that costs much because they prob won’t actually wear it since its just a random thing. Who would wear around a high chair charm if they don’t have a baby? Lol

I also wouldn’t single out the singles. This sounds like a cute idea for the whole bridal party or possibly do this at a bridal shower with a small group invited.
