I’ve been looking at a few venues and I notice that some of them provide cake. Is this THE cake? Meaning I wouldn’t have to worry about getting the wedding cake from a bakery? Or is this just a dessert? Just cake for my guests?
And if it’s THE cake, do I get much say in what I want about the cake? Flavors? Colors? Designs?
I’m so confused!

Usually it is the cake. My venue had a contract where you could go to two different bakers and then it was included in the price of the location. You should talk to the vendor but they probably work with an outside baker in order to provide the cake. They should let you know about the details.

You should ask each individual venue to be sure, but the ones I talked to actually supplied THE cake. However, their selection and ability to customize was very limited compared to the wedding cake bakeries we visited. I’m sure they would incorporate any flowers or cake topper you supplied to them though.

You’d probably get some say in the flavors but it isn’t likely to be a full “custom” experience like you’d get with a high end outside baker. But that’s ok unless you have very specific ideas about what you want -one less vendor to deal with.

Thanks so much, ladies! This info was so helpful.
And my fiance and I aren’t so particular about the cake, so this is great. One less vendor to worry about, indeed.

Some venues have deals with cake bakers, so they can include them with your package, and you are normally getting a discount with this route.
you will still probably have to meet with the baker to pick out your cake flavors, design, etc. but probably pay for it through your venue.
