Our venue is a winery and they offer a wine barrel as the cake table, which we’ve decided to use. We felt that an additional stand would be a bit much so will just have the cake on a board.

We are just having a small cake to cut so I am making mine.  It’s not actually put together yet, that’s why it’s off Center lol

My dad made mine. They were just nice pieces of wood with trim from Lowes. He painted the wedding cake one white and stained the groomsman stand.

We made ours from a tree that had been cut down near my parents’ house!

We are renting a lovely pink ceramic one off our baker. The cake is quite small so we wanted to give it a bit more height and just add to the appearance of it. I think for taller cakes though no stand is fine.

My venue has a lot of small touches that we can take advantage of. Depending on the look that I decide on, I may just use the one they provide. I’ve also seen brides there put the cake on a trunk of wood so that may work if I go more rustic but I’m leaning towards the one pictured.

TeamEaston :  What kind of glue you’re using to attach the plate and candlestick? For my centerpieces we’re making a bunch of vintage china plate/milk glass candlestick cake plates. We were thinking Gorilla Glue might work well?

I will be having a cake stand, but nothing as… dramatic… as some of these! More along the lines of a traditional cake stand that can be used again. The jury’s still out on whether I’ll make one with a china plate and milk glass candlestick or vase, find a vintage one somewhere, or pick up a white porcelain cake plate from TJ Maxx. I’d like to use it again at home.

TJ Maxx for our cutting cake – $9.99, simple and modern. My Mom is a bit of a nut so she actually returned it after the wedding, haha.

For brides who need multiple stands (we had a cutting cake and eight 10″ cakes) the cheapest matching cake stands are via Ikea for $9 each. I spent way too much time comparison shopping and pricing so maybe I can save someone the time! We sold them to our baker after our wedding for $5 each.

For our dessert buffet, we had a variety of mismatched cake plates and stands that we picked up at estate sales. It look a bit of time, but worked well with our overall look.
