My cake baker is great, and only does buttercream. She does it out of her home in Saline! Her prices are amazing, but she charges $100 for delivery outside of Ann Arbor. Here’s her website:

I liked her cake so much that I ordered Mr. Taffy’s birthday cake from her last month! I don’t know of any other bakers in the Dearborn area, but if I come across any I will post them!

Aww, Miss Taffy got to suggest Gwen before I could.  I second it!  Her website has a really great photo gallery with a ton of different style options, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t use fondant at all.  Also, most of her service area is a $50 delivery charge, but the map is on her website.

lol, sorry I beat you to it! It looks like Dearborn is just outside of her $50 "inner circle" delivery range. 🙁

Have you looked at Elite Sweets in Livonia?  We’re not using them for our wedding (a family friend/pastry chef is baking our cake), but our family often uses their cakes for events.  They’re delish, pretty and they use buttercream.  I recently attended a bridal expo where their representative said that they were able to "make buttercream look like fondant, because everyone wants the look, but no one likes the taste".

I got my cake from this bakery. They do all kinds of cakes. They are a little pricy tho, but the taste is great. Not too sweet either. Yum

you can see part of my wedding cake on on of the pictures here.

Don’t know if you still need a cake, but I booked Lakes Cakes out of Commerce Twp. for my wedding.  They do almost strictly buttercream, and it REALLY looks like fondant.  Their buttercream tastes awesome too.  They are extremely reasonable in price….I think my cake came in at $3.00/slice for a 4 tier cake (and that was with upgraded filling).

Their website is http://www.lakescakes.com.
