there are all kinds of toppers these days and you can really do whatever you want! i actually bought a cake topper that love! this one

it was the first item i purchase befor choosing wedding colors and it ended up not going with my whole theme so i kept it and put it in my house 🙂 i ended up doing gumpaste roses on top of my cake

other ideas – monograms – bride and groom -flowers

Grooms Cakes are normally seperate cakes all together, mostly shown at the rehearsal dinner but you could do it at the wedding too – i’ve seen them in shapes of football or xboxes – something your guy loves usually

I think we are going to put a bundle of baby’s breath on the top as our wedding cake topper…or at least for now…maybe a blinged out letter. But was hoping to find something more unique!

You can do anything you like as a cake topper:

your monogram

a personalized topper that reflects the appearance of the couple

something that shows your interests

something that reflects your theme

or use your parents cake topper

Our theme was Koi/Goldfish, so I found this on Etsy. It sits on my Tivo and it makes me smile every time I look at it.

There are all kinds of toppers. I’ve seen figurines, birds, flowers, and letters on cakes recently. You don’t have to do any topper though. The groom’s cake is typically separate. Some grooms take this opportunity to have a have “themed” cake, like in the shape of their favorite car, or something they like. You can do whatever though 🙂

I’m not sure where you can buy toppers, because I won’t have one on my cake. But I’m sure you could look at Etsy or google it.

I think you can do anything you want with your topper, or do away with it altogether.  I am swaying between a classic topper (similar to my gradparents) that I will search for on ebay, etc or DIY’ing one.  I think whatever I do I want to encorporate a bride/groom,  but I have seen a lot of monogram toppers lately.

The grooms cake is typically seperate and usually a themed cake.  My groom chose a replica of his backpacking tent, and it will be on the same table as our wedding cake.
