Hey TO brides.. where are you getting your cake toppers from? I know they have some at Michaels but Fiance and I weren’t a huge fan of any of those for us and anywhere I find online the shipping would cost more than the toppers.. just wondering if anyone knew any good stores to go to locally?

I got mine on Etsy, some sellers will ship internationally (I’m based in the US).

I had a ton of cake toppers because DH and I loved them and we had a lot of cakes!
This one I made using just wood pieces that I bought and Michael’s and painted:
This one I made out of fimo:
This one was a gift from the shop I bought my lanterns at on Spadina. They’re salt & pepper shakers 🙂
These ones are from Pier One Imports (again, salt & pepper shakers).
This was a vintage one I found at Value Village:

I bought mine from etsy too! It’s being customized in our colours, etc.

Bahhh the wood ones you painted are TOO cute.
I hadn’t even thought of cake toppers! We’re just having a small, uniced carrot cake to cut w/ dessert bar, but could likely still do toppers.
I want to copy your idea bakerella, is that terrible?! We have a puppy, no kitties though!

@RingPup: Do it! I got the little wood pieces at Michaels (don’t forget your coupon!), and just painted them with plain old acrylic craft paint. I think I’d like to do up another set and put a top coat on them just to see how well the acrylic reacts to it and to make them a bit more “finished” looking.

aw those are so nice! I wish I was that talented.
We ended up getting one at party packagers (who knew they had them?) its probably a little racy for the older folks but it’s cute.

You can make your own out of fondant. They are super easy to do and can end up super cute. It is also an incredibly low cost idea. Walmart sells white fondant and adding food color to it you have endless color possibilities.

@bakerella: Your vintage one looks a lot like the one we had! It was the cake topper from my parents’ wedding in 1973.

@Brianalaura: Oh my gosh!! Too funny! I got ours at Value Village. It went to Mrs Knittings wedding for another go at life 🙂
ETA – My cat ate the bride’s veil so she was very chic in a birdcage veil at our wedding 😉

we aren’t having a cake at all, we’re having a dessert buffet instead but I’m still gonna get a stand alone topper to put amongst all the desserts! I’ve been looking at the personalised ones 🙂
ETA – didn’t realise this thread was so old when I replied lol
