Out of curiosity, how many are doing cake toppers? Flowers? Both? something different?
We’re definitely doing flowers but will consider adding a cake topper if it ‘speaks’ to us (found one on etsy that I really like…a bride doing a yoga pose and her groom).
Attach pics if you have ’em!

Nothing. Our cake has some elaborate details on the cake itself and we don’t want to take away from it with a topper.

My hubby is a avid motorcle man, so much so it will be incorporated in our std pics. I wanted togot incorporate that into our wedding somehow. This is what I was thinking.

I wanted to do cute animal toppers, but it just didn’t look right with our cake. I’m thinking about having them on a cake at the rehearsal dinner.

I really love the polymer clay cake toppers I saw on Etsy – they are modeled after real-life pics of the bride and groom and they can include pets too which we would love to have our 2 dogs. We arent 100% but leaning towards it. Although it’s pricey at $100+

We have a cake topper, which we will probably change. 🙁 and flowers will be scattered around the cake in some fashion.

Fiance loves craft beer, and our reception is going to be at a vineyard, so we are planning on having the cake covered in with some grape vines and hop leaves. I’d like the top to have theM intertwined. I’m still not 100% sure we can pull it off, but I think it wi be nice and subtle so that most people think they are just decorative vines, but to us it will be more meaningful.

I just ordered a custom cake topper which was a little more than I wanted to spend but insanely cute from Etsy.
We’re also having purple gerbera daisy sugar flowers since I was unable to get them as real flowers for our wedding

I made glitter hearts in my wedding colors. Easy, cheap and cute. I got the idea from the Paper Pony.

@Araya – awesome! I love that!
@purple_sofia. Yeah, I hear ya on the cost…I couldn’t believe how much! And the one I liked, I believe, is made in Korea (which makes me a little nervous).
I’m hearing what people are saying about it taking away from the look of the cake…ours will be three (white) tiers with royal blue ribbon around the bottom of each tier. Down the middle will be a strip of glittery fondant and “buttons” (to mimic the buttons going down the back of my gown). Theme/style of our wedding is bright and romantic…maybe just initials or hearts would suit our cake/style better? Although I do love the personal touch of the yoga girl/groom topper! Hmmmm…

We used Legos! My Darling Husband made it his personal mission to find the custom pieces (sword for him – he’s a fencer; violin for me)
It was the perfect touch of lighthearted playfulness for us.

I made one myself but then I found one that looked like us and matched our Midsummer Nights Dream theme so I had to get that one too lol.
and the one I bought

Our cake has sugar flowers trailing up the sides, not sure if I’m going to add a few real flowers or use a topper. If I use a topper it will be a set of little wooden dolls. I made a couple as a trial, here is a picture of the faces…the eyes are a little crooked, but they turned out pretty cute.

I’m using roses as the “topper”. Not sure why, but I just don’t like the look of cake toppers. I’ve seen some really cute ones, but I just can’t picture having one on my cake. My Fiance wanted some, so maybe I can put some on his groom’s cake?

@jwilk241 I see where you’re coming from. We’re having hot pink peonies scattered on each tier. That might be too much with the cake topper (and the ribbon and the fondant “buttons” down the middle). and if push came to shove and I had to choose, it we be the flowers, for sure.
