    We are having flowers on the top of the cake.

    I like some personalized toppers but some of them are just plain awful, particularly some of the mud sculpture kind- worse than some kindergarten art.

    If a cake topper is going to be a bride and groom, I prefer the idea of vintage looking ones, but not personalized. I’ve found that when they are personalized, they’re usually made by the cake artists out of fondant. then they usually end up making the bride and groom cartoon-y or like a figurine from hallmark.

    I do like the bride-and-groom ones, but they are a little old fashioned. I kind of like the idea of having an ironic looking one. some couples like to be funny and use favorite toys, which is cute if you are having a sense of humor with your wedding.

    or if you wanted a “serious” cake topper, then I’d use a pretty object, not little representations of people.

    here is a topper I love- but some people might find it a little creepy:

    @julies1949:

    totally agree. there are some cute ones on etsy, but for the most part, I find them tacky. sorry. flowers are a nice topper, IMO.

    Mine’s a bride and groom I ordered, but I paint ceramics as a hobby, so of course I had to paint all the flowers to match the ones we’ll be carrying/wearing!

    we arent having a cake topper… the cakes I seem to love the most are ones with fondant bows at the top… like stacked gift boxes LOL

    We got ours from etsy. She personalizes it to look like the bride and groom, but I chose to have a plain dress in the topper b/c I didn’t want my husband to see what my dress looked like.

    I’m not doing a cake topper. Instead, I’m making sugar flowers to decorate the top tier.

    Here’s Mine… I painted it to match us. But it was the ONE thing my Fiance had to have beside Ravoli in the wedding so I let him have it.

    I LOVE our cake topper.. It looks just like us and everyone loved it at the wedding. We found a guy who was able to take pictures of our faces and our wedding attire and make this topper in about 3 weeks.
