I’m looking at a late May wedding/reception outdoors in Missouri, at about 6 PM. Average high for the weeks I’m looking at is about 74 (it CAN get up to 90, but it hasn’t done that except in drought years), plus it’ll be after the heat of the day. My dad also has a fridge just a few yards from where the food will be.
My mom insists I can’t do an outdoor reception because the frosting will melt off the cake. Um…
First, is this likely/possible? And if it is, is there a type of frosting suited to mild heat? I really want an outdoor reception, and when I rehash this topic with my mom, I want to have a decent rebuttal.
