How much did you budget/spend on your entire wedding and how much of that was allocated towards venue and decor, and your accessories?
I actually had my (very DIY) wedding 3 years ago before I even knew weddingbee existed (pretty new member here). Now, hubby and I are in a better place financially and I’d looooove to have a wedding do-over. For my wedding, the largest chunk of the budget was eaten up by the venue and food (about $10k of the $13k total we spent and I even made my own cake and centerpieces).
I’d love to have a non-rustic style wedding (glittery, lots of flowers, elegant or offbeat, definitely fun), similar to those featured in magazines, but without the $100k price tag. I just want to see what you Bees (especially Southern California Bees) have come up with so I know how high to go and how much is too much. Post reception and ceremony photos with your budget please!
Bonus question: what totally “unnecessary” item did you splurge on?
p.s. I’m not asking for financial advice. I know $50k can be a decent house down payment rather than a 1-night party . I’ve just decided to enjoy the money (exactly how much is still the question) and feel like a new bride all over again.

My bigger concern would be is to wait at least till the 5 yr mark for a renewal, never heard of a do over unless its the 2nd marriage

@asianbarbie: lol. I’m actually almost there (about 18 months to go, coz seriously, who plans through the thanksgiving/xmas holidays?). So now would be a good time to figure out the financials so I can enjoy a year or so of planning .
Plus my husband and I went through a particularly rough patch last year. The D-word was actually agreed upon but we’ve since reconciled and I feel that a renewal will help me finally let go of that pain and focus on our future.
On to happy thoughts!

@amethystJCM: our budget was $12 000
We We spent aporox. $16 500
Our venue was $11 000 tax and tip included, rounding to the nearest thousand (it was a bit less then this). (cocktails, 4 course meal, midnight buffet snacks, linen, ceremony space, tables, nice chairs, cake cutting service, 7 hour premium open bar and a hotel suite for our wedding night was all included)…110 guest…98 of them adults over 19 that ciuld drink (or non vendors).
Decor-umm I think I spent 600 for everything plus $150 for lighting all tax included. = $750. I was able to recover money by selling things. Made about $400 back so far for decor.
Unnecessary purchase…..it was all good I think…even the lighting was necessary! I think I could gave spent more on flowers, not a flower person…but I spent less then $250…if I doubled i to $500 I woukd of had more then I needed because I bought wholesale and did it myself…also bought big blooms so i didn’t need so much for my clean centerpeices. Maybe I would have gave my bridesmaids bigger bouquets.

As fellow so-cal bride Our biggest splurge is definitely our venue/caterer (If you booked the venue, you had to have the caterer, but their food is amazing and they have great reviews, so we were ok with that lol) between the two of them it is around 20k. Everything else should (hopefully) come out around 10k. I’m cutting things where I need to (example, we’re doing centerpieces, but i’m going to use all bridal bouquets as decorations for dessert table, present table, ect instead of getting more floral bouquets. We aren’t going to have favors but will do a photo booth. Things definitely add up fast and I’m not very creative and my family doesn’t live close so the whole DIY thing would be a disaster for me. 😉

@KingsDaughter: thanks for your response! Can you post some pics of your bouquets and reception?
@hazyleyedbeauty: what is your theme and what do you envision your centerpieces to be? How about your accessories?

@amethystJCM: I don’t really have a theme. Our wedding is in an outdoor garden, so I would love to have a whimsical/romantic feel for it. The wedding colors are fuchsia, cobalt blue, and white. Our centerpieces are going to be in square vases with a blue ribbon wrapped around it and white hydrangeas and fuchsia roses (which matches my bouquet)
