Why do you want to call the police?  They’re eating lunch, listening to music, and they looked at you when you went outside.  They’ve broken no laws.

Maybe put a no trespassing sign in your yard? Then call the police of they do it again?

Find out who their supervisor is. contact them. the police wont really do much, unfortunitly b/c its public property, they can be anywhere they want… i would ask them to give space…

I don’t think their behavior threatening. If they are in yard kindly ask them to step out. It’s annoying but I’m sure if you go inside lock the door and shut it you should be fine. I also don’t think this is something to call the cops about. If it turns into a daily thing find and call the local number.

Nothing, they’re laborers, that’s what laborers do.  These are working men with families and wives and dogs and car payments, just like you…lock your door and forget about it, if the noise REALLY bothers you, although it is the middle of the day, you could file a complaint with the City Parks and Recreation department who hired these men and they could advise the foreman…but I would sincerely doubt any of them were watching you for a synister reason…

@OctBride-2012:   I agree with this.

What have they done wrong?  Don’t call their supervisor!  They’re just eating lunch.  Wouldn’t you look at someone who was passing by if you were sitting down eating your lunch?  If they didn’t say anything to you or make any cat calls then it’s perfectly innocent.

Honestly, if you’re that freaked out about it, I’d probably call the company that these guys work for and just make a complaint that they’re blasting their radios from their cars and you can hear it inside your house so you’re sure your neighbor’s can too.

The strip of grass between the road and the sidewalk (what I call a parkway, I’m assuming that’s what you’re talking about) is usually public property. If they’re on YOUR property then I’d have a serious issue and also complain about that.

ETA: Just saw that you don’t have neighbors. That doesn’t change my answer much though.

It ok to be cautious, keep a discrete eye on them, however it sounds like these guys are just unwinding and taking a break. It would be silly to get them in trouble over it.

@starrynight:  Are they sitting on the curb in front of your house?

They’re also accustomed to working in neighborhoods where everyone is at work all day, so it’s probably a little weird for someone to be around…and probably unlikely that they even knew you were there until you walked out the door…

@starrynight:  Maybe they think it’s public and that they’re not doing anything wrong, since that’s pretty standard? I mean, you could ask them to leave and be well within your rights, but it seems like they’re not actually trying to bother you.
