I’m all set! So excited. We got a personal in with one of the (well, TWO) DJ’s from No Macarena.
After asking around, we were refered to one of the DJ’s over at the company who told us that they were not available, but to contact the company directly for someone else, and that all the dudes there we’re great. We slept on that tip, looking for more leads.
Then, I got a tip about ANOTHER No Macerena DJ, who booked us directly at the direction of the manager of No Macerena. She basically said if you got a double referal for my people, they must be doing something right, they can book directly and keep the whole cut.
However, I would recomend contacting No Macerena directly if anyone in Philly is still looking. It really seems like the company has it together, and it was going to cost us $950, which we were okay with considering the reputation that they have. I’m a stickler for branding and marketing, and I must say that thier website does them a lot more justice than looking up thier profile on wedding wire. They really stood out as being “cut from a differnt cloth.”
I’m not even going to say how much less than that we’re paying:)
But….I will say: talk to your friends about who they used (even if it’s an aquantence, relative who you don’t talk to much, coworker)….getting referals of specific DJ names PAYS OFF:)
Sorry, not spell checking, too busy wedding planning!

I’ve also been considering No Macarena. Which DJ did you have and how did it end up going??

ETA disregard post – I didn’t see you got one. 🙂
Synergetic Light & Sound!!!
Not only deo they HATE line dances/chicken dance/etc but they down right state they won’t play any of that unless you approve it. I was asked real quick about the Wobble and the Cuban Shuffle as they were requested by guests. he just had his assistant jump down, whisper and ask for my approval with the # of guests who requested and asked what I wanted to do. I OK-ed it. 🙂 I just didn’t want the macarena or electric slide lol.
Also my DJ was super excited about the wedding intuitively got our styles and everyone had a great time.

haha this is so true. We like alternative and oldies and did not want top 40 playing. We had to make that really clear. One DJ was so hyped up it was like he was on coke, he wouldn’t let us get in a word but kept saying he would “fade in the background and won’t steal the attention.” Then we did actually hire a DJ and he was so unresponsive we had to fire him. He was super rude and such a tool. The DJ we finally ended up with is very chill, thankfully. We didn’t want a game show host, just someone to play music and be reliable!
