Not sure if this belongs quite in the etiquette section, so apologies if I posted on the wrong board.
I need help figuring out a small situation. I live aborad so I booked most of my vendors without meeting them face to face. I hired what seemed like an awesome husband-and-wife-DJ team and we actually had a long phone conference and they seemed very professional, plus they have 20+ glowing weddingwire and yelp reviews. We’ve also had great email communication since I’ve booked them and one of them has always gotten back to me within no more than 48 hours.
So a little over a week ago I emailed them with a question. Nothing huge or extremely time-sensitive, but I was surprised that neither of them never wrote back (cc’d both husband and wife). Now I know wedding season has begun plus it was Memorial Day, and I get that they’re busy, so I let it go. Then a couple of days ago I came up with another question, thinking they’d probably respond to both emails soon. Still nothing…. weird.
I have no good reason to believe they are scamming me or anything like that because of the excellent feedback I’ve read about them and the great previous communication, but I am starting to feel a little anxious. Maybe it’s just bride nerves – my wedding is a little over a month away. Anyway, I’m not sure how to proceed. I don’t need them to answer my questions *today* or anything, but I would like them to be responsive and acknowledge my emails. At least send me a “sorry we’re really busy, we’ll get back to you next week” or something. Am I wrong to want this from my vendors? All my other vendors either respond in a timely manner or tell me approximately when they’ll get back to me. Isn’t that normal?
I was thinking of giving them a call, but don’t want to come off as needy or demanding. Still, I’m a little surprised at this sudden change in communication.

@LilDrAnya: I found that most of my vendors stopped communicating promptly through email after we booked them, lol. Nature of the beast – there are always weddings happening before yours.
I think that if its only been a week, you should just sit tight and wait – I’m sure they will get back to you soon! With a holiday weekend and the start of wedding season, they might just be really busy and catching up on emails. I’m sure you are in the que.
If you are reaaaally worried, or they don’t respond soon, give them a call! It can’t hurt.

Hah, I’ve had the same experience.

Most of my vendors have still gotten back to me within a day, even after booking. Once my photographer missed an email but she felt so bad about it when she did reply a week later.

@carrotstick: It seems to be universal. I’ve heard it again and again on the boards. I understand it though! A wedding happening next weekend takes priority over a wedding happening in a month.
OP, any word from your DJs though?

I’m glad I saw this. I didn’t know that it was so normal for vendors to be non responsive during wedding season. Explains why the officiant I’m working with isn’t responding all of a sudden. Hope you hear from your DJ soon – I know how annoying and nerve wracking it is!

@LilacViolet: Thank you so much for asking and everyone else for the support. He finally wrote back last night and actually has responded 2 more times since then in the last 24 hours. So previous speedy communication has been restored – yay! Guess he was just busy before and my crazy bride brain was worrying over nothing!

@LilacViolet: I noticed the same thing with almost ALL my vendors. Prior to booking, I would get a response in hours. After booking them, I wait at least 2-3 days for a response.
