I have to choose between a 1 ct Amora Gem or a 1.5 ct Amora Gem. I wanted a 1.25 ct one, but I was worried that would be too big. 1.5 ct on my sz 4.5 finger (but probably getting a sz 5 ring) with sidestones sounds crazy.
Here’s the design I’m getting:
This ring is a sz 5.5 with a .96 ct center and .12 pears.
Please post your 1 ct center, plus your finger size for reference.

Btw, the gem is Hearts & Arrows. I know an ideal cut makes a stone look bigger, so keep that in mind.

I do not have a 1ct but I think the photos you posted look lovely!

My center is .96 and ring size 6.75, I think the 1 carat would be perfect!

1.02 on size 7 but ring is size 8

1.01 cushion cut on a size 9.5 finger… and it looks just fine so I think that a 1 carat will look quite nice on your smaller fingers.

@IheartUFC: I would go with the 1.25 but not the 1.5 if you’re worried about it being too big. I think once shrinkage sets in, itll be perfect. I had to choose between a 7×5 and a 7.5×7.5 and I got the smaller.. now I regret it! .5 isn’t a lot and 7×5 is good coverage even with my size 8 finger (in a halo, though) but I wish I had gone up that small bit!

@JessMorgan777: Every time I see your ring, I just love it!

Just under a carat, size 5.5… love my ring, and I really don’t think my cell phone pics capture its beauty! FYI – when I went shopping, anything much bigger than a carat looked really weird to me on my finger.

@IheartUFC: I think it’s just right. I think with AG sizing the dimensions are typically bigger than the standard 6.5 mm for 1 ct or 7.5 mm for 1.5 ct. Most AG reports I’ve seen typically list the stone as it’s diamond eq weight but the dimensions are usually bigger that the diamond eq dimensions. Does that make sense? I think, for example, Becleeham’s gorgeous 7 mm is actually more like a 7.1 mm or something? Maybe she can weigh in.

1.01 ct Ring Bearer on a size 6

Here’s mine – it is 1.03 carat, J, SI1. Faces up pretty white because I believe it has a good cut (it hasn’t been GIA or EGL graded, just the jeweler’s appraisal). My finger is a size 6.5. Sometimes it looks really big to me and other times, small. LOL
