I’m planning my rustic barn wedding, pretty sure I have the venue picked and we can pick our own caterer. I contacted Mission BBQ (Reading PA) and the quote looks great. I have a tasting scheduled in a few weeks but they said it would only be for the main dinner foods, not the hors d’oeuvres. I was originally hesitant to use Mission BBQ since I’ve never been there and it looks like a chain to me, but my parents have eaten there before and said the food is good.
My quote includes the party pack for 200 people (staffed buffet) and cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres which would include stationary vegetable trays and cheese/cracker trays, as well as butlered bacon-wrapped scallops, smoky mountain meatballs, and sausage trays (I’m pretty sure all 3 of the last ones would be butlered in order to keep people from taking a big plate full of the expensive stuff, and I would pay the staff per hour for that). Since we won’t be able to taste these beforehand, I’m curious if anyone else has used Mission BBQ for both dinner and cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres before. If you’ve used them for the hors d’oeuvres, was it butlered? I’m just curious how professional they are in terms of service, as well as the quality of the food and presentation.
These are certainly all questions I will ask at the tasting and see if they have photos/videos of previous weddings or events where they provided the same service, but I’d like to get some unbiased reviews too.
