I wouldn’t do a thing with the halo. A bigger stone will still be able to FIT in that setting, it might just need new prongs and you won’t be able to see the halo as much. The stock diamond in my ring was a 3/4 ct and I wanted my 1 ct put into it. Sure, you can’t see the halo anymore which is kind of a bummer, but from the side it looks fine! Putting too much money into small “modifications” will probably turn to regret later. Instead, go back to the jeweler and try to find a setting (maybe with a higher budget since you’re considering paying for modifications) and see if you can find one that you love.

Here’s the stock photo of mine where you can see the halo (in white gold):mainView

Here’s the ring after we put in my 1 ct:

By The Way I love your ring! I wish my shank had one more twist because I’m obsessed with the infinity symbol. And the cushion halo with the round diamond! To die for! I think you’d have to get a considerably bigger diamond to cover up that halo.

@ceebree:  That was a great idea, and you can’t beat $30. Also, your diamond is so sparkly!

@Jessica_Rabbit:  aww thank you! I like the chubbier ones ๐Ÿ™‚  Would you believe our jeweler had this bad boy in stock for TEN years?!? Hearts are not very popular! But it means we got a deal, lol. When I saw it I thought it had perfect proportions ๐Ÿ™‚ One more, on a teapot!

@wrkbrk:  I have literally never liked a heart shaped stone until I saw yours. It is perfect! I really can’t believe the jeweler had it for 10 years. It will probably be the last heart shaped diamond she gets!
