I got an invitation to my best friend’s son’s second birthday. I want to get him something that he will enjoy, but will be practical, fun, and most importantly, not annoy his poor mama! What are some must have gifts and what are some gifts you curse the creator of?

MrsMeowton: My son is turning 2 next month! Here are some ideas he and us parents would enjoy :
-a 36″ long broom, so he can leave min alone
-Some books (I’ve been eyeing some by Jonathan Bentley, Little Big and something about a duck)
-Bath crayons, a must-have in our house for bath time, or some little boats.
-Small metal cars, hotwheels style
-anything schoolbus related, or firetruck, or police car.
-a toy mower
-a small apron for him when he “cooks” with me.
-bubbles (for the bath, to blow outside, any kind of bubbles really)
Hoepfully something will be useful in this list for you.

MrsMeowton: i have a two and a half year old son. he LOVES anything with wheels. especially trains that he can connect all the train cars together. Bubbles, wagons/wheelbarrow, crayons with coloring books, mega blocks are something my kiddo loves to play with as well but i HATE picking them up every day. outdoor toys like chalk, squirt guns, sprinklers.

i loved the bath crayons, but they were hard to get off our shower. the first time we used them they wiped right off, then after that i had to use powerful grease fighting spray and a scrubby brush. but boats and bath toys are always a plus. they get moldy fast so you go through more bath toys than you do any other.
