Okay beauties, I need you all to keep an extremely open mind as I tell you my dilemma! I am a plus size bride, as well as a bride on a budget. I also knew shortly after we were engaged, that I wanted a blush gown….something different! I was looking up wedding dresses and came across the dress of my dreams! But alas, as most plus sized brides I had my dreams crushed as no salon on the East coast had the gown in a plus size for me to try on! After scouring the internet for days on end, I found a salon that had it in white, in a size 24 for me to try on! I was ecstatic! I rushed to the salon and tried it on and truly fell in love! However, the gown didn’t close! I am dieting anyway so I wasn’t too worried about that detail. However, no salon on the east coast had the dress in the blush color I wanted for me to try on. The dress retails anywhere from 1100-2600. And while I don’t think that’s an exuberant amount to ,spend on a wedding dress, I did feel like it was too much for me to spend blindly on a gown ,in a color I’ve never seen before in person. Just when I was running out of hope…I found the gown online brand new through a private seller who had decided to go with a different gown. The dress is a size 18, but for $500 I was willing to take a gamble! Please don’t judge me! The dress arrived perfect, brand new with tags…but I have some serious dieting to do to get into it. My wedding is in November. So after you all reading my novel, lol….I need all of your help! Can I see photos of you all in your size 18 wedding gowns, so I can attempt to gauge how much I’ll need to lose to fit into my dream dress! I’m including pics…one of me in the white size 24 and the others are of my blush beauty I’ll HOPEFULLY be wearing for our sweet November wedding. Fingers crossed ladies….Anybody got some butter? We’re going to have to slide me into that baby! lol

Your dress is beautiful and so are you!
You should purchase a tailors tape measure if you don’t already have one and measure yourself. Compare your measures to Allure’s size chart, found here:

Loren Irwin : Your dress is gorgeous! I don’t know how big your seems are, but my seamstress was able to add almost 3 inches to each side by letting out the seams fully. She ended up having to take it back in! Anyhow, DB here. Size 18.

MmeSilverBullet : it might just be my phone but your picture isn’t showing up. Not sure if it might be different on a desktop.

Can you get a seamstress to remove the buttons and do a corset back? That will give you more room. The dress is beautiful!

2yearsaway : I realize I may have to add a corset and it makes me sad 🙁 The thing is, I actually prefer corset backs on most wedding dresses, but on this dress because of the extensive, intricate detail…I would hate to have it separated by a corset. If all else fails though girl, I may need to! Do you know by any chance how many sizes adding a corset back allows you to go up?

Loren Irwin : Beautiful gown. You can get the dimensions of each grown from the bridal salon selling them to gage how many inches you have to loose. Might want to consider a back up dress just in case. Good luck!

I don’t know if my dress is an 18 (it was made to my measurements), but it’s definitely big. They measured my hips at 50″. It’s a little snug in the hips, but I do hope to lose another couple of inches. If the salon can squish 50″ of butt and hips into a trumpet, there is hope for you for sure!
