@judybot:  what are scopes? You mean old school film?  If so, if you take them in to Wal-mart they should be able to do it. Future Mother-In-Law does it all the time

This is such a precious memento, I think you should try and take it to a professional.  There are people who restore photos, and they’ll probably know best what to do.  If you try scanning it too much, it’ll speed up the fading.  It shouldn’t cost too much money since it’s not a huge job, and you’re not asking for it to be blown up, just reproduced.

Good luck, maybe someone else can give you more practical tips!  That is such a sweet thing to do.

(Scopes I’m assuming are like those keychains that look like little telescopes or kaleidoscopes but when you look in them, it’s a picture, right?)

ETA: You’re in Maryland!  I just realized that.  I don’t know if you’re near Bethesda, but we took an old, crackled photo of my Papa to http://www.rrphotography.com/ and they did really good work.  I don’t know about the cost, though.

@judybot:  I have one of those! Its 20 years old! lol

I would take it to a pro shop in your area. You may try scanning it again but put a piece of white paper over it so its not see through anymore. You may get a better scan that way. Blow it up too and make a framed print as well. 🙂

@judybot:  Take it to a pro, they’ll be able to do it for you. And if its scanned right you should easily get a 4×6 or a 5×7 print out of it. They just have to kick up the dpi to at least 300. Maybe even shine a light and scan. I dont know if the lid needs to be shut for a scan.. crop out all the junk.

If you scan that way and it works you can email it to me and I can crop and such for you. 🙂

I dont know if they make them anymore, Im sure they do. lol I got my from Six Flags in Cali way back in the day! lol
