What are my curly curl brides doing with their hair for the wedding? Natural or getting a blow-out first?
I ended up doing two trials: one blown out and one natural. I was sure I wanted it straightened…but once I did it I just felt like it didn’t look like me so I booked another trial to see how it would look with my natural curls. There is definitely a lack of pictures of naturally curly brides, so would love to hear what others are doing and see pictures!! It’s always a bit of a worry that the curls will be a little frizzy or unwieldy that day (as everyone with curls knows that they have a mind of their own…).
Here are pictures from both my trials – straight and curly (I also changed the bun from side to straight back). I am 99% sure I am going to go with the natural curls – easier and I want to look like myself at my wedding :). Our wedding is an outdoor garden wedding (ceremony and reception), so the curl feels like a better fit! Would love to see and hear what others are doing!

I’m not sure what I’m doing yet with mine but I just wanted to say your pictures look gorgeous! They both look beautiful but the one with your natural curls looks amazing!

allielieberell : Both updos are beautiful but I just love your natural curls! I think it’s important to go with what feels more “you” rather than looking back on photos and not even recognizing yourself. My hair is naturally curly but I wear it straight 99% of the time, so that felt more “me” on my wedding day.

Go with the curls! It makes your style look so much more lively and vibrant, and feeling like “you” on the day is so important. My hair took forever to get into a state where it would stay tamed for the whole day, but it meant a lot to me (and DH!) that I look like myself.

Omg if you don’t do natural curls you’re doing yourself a major disservice! That is STUNNING!! I have always thought that I will likely do a big blow out style and wear it down- my roots are straight and I have a bit of inconsistency in texture throughout, so wearing it natural for an updo would never look as amazing as yours does!

allielieberell : I have curly hair and it definitely has a mind of its own. I plan to do something similar to yours. My curls can be pretty ddefined but with frizz, so as long as I tame the frizz, it’d loook gorgeous.
By The Way your hair in the pictures is amazing! I love your curls!! *heart eyes*
ETA: I always put a little argan oil for tips and roots. I use pantene conditioner which helps with frizz in my hair. I put a pantene serum to define my curls while getting rid of frizz.

Yes to the curls! It looks great! My hair is wavy and I’m going to wear it like that for the trial – I plan on doing half up, half down. Maybe I’ll have her curl it a bit more, but I don’t plan on having her straighten it at all.

As a fellow curly, I love the natural look better!

I kept mine curly and pinned up- like your natural look. We had an outdoor wedding and reception in June and it was a little humid so there was no way a smooth look was going to survive the day. I felt like a prettier version of my natural self. Congratulations!

Gorgeous! I love your hair with the curls! I feel the same way. A lot of people ask me “what are you doing with your hair will it be straight?” Like no. I hate my hair straight why would want it straight for my wedding lol!
here is my trial I love how it turned out ❤️
