@ArmyWife8806:  If you were in Portland Oregon, it would be no problem 🙁   We have Swan Island Dahlia Farm here.  I wonder if you can get fresh ones overnighted to you? Perhaps you can find a Dahlia farm near you?  I actually just planted some dahlias-bought them at Costco, but it is a little tricky with them blooming and when you’ll need them.

I am actually growing plum dahlas for my wedding.  I have been growing dahlias fo YEARS so I just had to grow them for my wedding.  In saying that, I want plum and dark eggplant as yourself.  This year with the heat, it is really hard to keep my dark colors.  All the deep reds, oranges and plums in the garden are getting lighter and lighter in the heat.

I am getting married in September so hopefully they will hold there color the end of August.  I am not sure of any growers in the area you could buy from around here.  WHen is your wedding?

I hear ya!  I found a dahlia farm up by you.  It might be worth it to give them a call and get some prices

You could cheat a bit and save some money by mixing the dahlias with spider mums and/or cusion mums.  Mums are a lot cheaper and hold up in the weather, and when used with dahlias, they really dont stick out.

Hope that helps!

I got lovely silks at Michaels last fall. They should be back in stock right about now. Here’s one (bottom of pic).

@kerensa:  Thanks, I’m still working at it. 🙂 It’s an ongoing project.

I think I saw some at my JoAnn’s last week, so you may want to check back as we get closer to fall?  They were just changing over to some of the fall decor.

I’m using dark purple/eggplant colors in my flowers, too!  Love!
