I just don’t know if the size is going to be right. It’s this gorgeous creation:
I’m 5’8″ and about 160 (muscle mass). I’m fairly thin I suppose…but I just don’t know if a six will be big enough for my hips and whatnot. Does anyone have any experience in this department??? I have to have a J. Crew dress!

Almost all of my work clothes are from J Crew. I tend to find them to fit like Calvin Klein and be pretty true to size. Is there a Macys or Nordstrom or a J Crew that you could go and check on your size?

I got a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress from there not too long ago – I did try it on in one of their stores with the Bridal Shop in it so I was able to get exactly what I needed. I would have ordered a 6 if I didn’t try on dresses at the store but I ended up getting a 4 that fit perfectly. But there other styles in the 4 were WAY too tight, so I don’t think there is any hard and fast rule for sizing.

Try sending a PM to this bride or replying on her post. She just recently bought a J. Crew gown for her wedding and posted a review yesterday: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/jcrew-rave.

I bought the Sophia in silk chiffon — it was a bit more forgiving in the hips because it was an empire waist. Anyway, I ordered it in a size 8 becuase I had lost weight at the time. I’m probably back up to a 10 now, but it fit the whole time. I’d say it was pretty true to size!

I am 5’9″ and about 140 (maybe a little less at the time I got married) but have very wide hips. I couldn’t decide between a 4 and a 6 (also ordered from eBay) but went with the 4 and it was plenty big. I would’ve been drowning in a 6. Just remember that J. Crew is really not meant for busty brides! 🙂

I went to a J.Crew sample sale last weekend in Lynchburg, VA and they had a couple of racks full of wedding dresses for $50

Do you wear J. Crew clothes in everyday life? I wore a J. Crew gown and it was the same size as all my other clothes from there.

Also, you can order it, try it on, and then return it to your local J Crew store without paying return shipping if you aren’t sure. It isn’t like a bridal shop where you can’t return stuff!
