Cefdinir does not cover MRSA. I’m a pharmacy student and we just did antibiotics last semester 🙂 Best of wishes taking care of your FI!

The reason why MRSA is such a big deal is that it can be pretty difficult to treat. It si called a “superbug” because there are so many antibiotics that are normally used to treat bacterial infections that do not work on MRSA infection. Therefore, when a patient is diagnosed with MRSA they perform susceptibility testing to see which antibiotics kill off the bacteria. This could be different for each patient so I highly recommend you SEE YOUR DOC if you think you might have MRSA!
