Hello Bees! So our wedding will be held at Dakota Lodge in Thompson Park, West St. Paul. The tricky thing with this venue is that they require our caterer to have a MN CATR license. I am honestly getting tired of looking for caterers (not to mention I’m planning from Dallas, TX which makes things a little more challenging for sure!)
Has anyone used Prom Catering or Crave for their wedding? Has anyone else held their reception at Dakota Lodge?
Any advice / input is GREATLY appreciated!! 🙂

We’re not using Prom (our catering is in-house at our venue), but I have heard really good things about them! Have you checked out MSP Magazine online? They have lots of reviews of wedding vendors, as wells a Minnesota Bride. Hope that’s a start!

I’ve had Prom Catering and it wasn’t my favorite. My favorite local caterer is ChowGirls. I have been to two weddings of theirs, and one party caterer by them and all the food was excellent. Including the one that was all vegan, which was some of the best wedding food I have ever had.

Thank you both ladies for your thoughts! I really appreciate it! I am waiting on a proposal from Crave, and hoping that that works out, otherwise Prom will most likely be the one. I’m honestly just ready to decide and have it done with!
@hsearle: Thanks for the web site tips, I haven’t spent much time on either but they seem like they would be very helpful!
@ILikePink: I’ve heard awesome things about Chowgirls, unfortunately they don’t have the right license as far as alcohol. thank you so much for responding! I really appreciate it!

Sorry for my ignorance, but is Crave catering the same as CRAVE restaraunt? If so, their food is amazing. I eat there at least once a month for business meetings (sometimes once a week) and everyone has always loved their food.

@organicgal: I’m planning my Minnesota wedding from a distance too! In January we just did all our food tastings and we ended up with Three Sons–they were awesome! They listened to our comments on the food and agreed to certain changes plus they do a lot of the finishing touches/cooking onsite so your food isn’t sitting in hot boxes prior to being served. We also tasted at Chowgirls and Letttuce Cater–chowgirls was our 2nd choice but they do use hot boxes which is a bummer plus they are currently going through some revamping we’ve been hearing….. Good luck
